"Stop-as-Yield" Law for Bicyclists Sun City Hilton Head adopted the new South Carolina "Stop-as-Yield" law for bicyclists, effective immediately. This law allows cyclists to approach stop signs, slow down and proceed through an intersection without coming to a complete stop when it is safe to do so.

Under the law, cyclists must yield to pedestrians and other traffic with the right of way, and they must stop when necessary to avoid an immediate hazard. The law does not permit cyclists to disregard traffic signals or proceed through intersections without exercising caution.

The purpose of the law is to improve traffic flow for bicyclists while maintaining safety for everyone using the roadway.

Aquatic Herbicide Pond Management Maintaining stormwater retention ponds is essential to protecting Sun City Hilton Head's drainage system, water quality, appearance and long-term infrastructure.

The proper use of aquatic herbicides is an integrated pond management program that helps control excessive aquatic weed growth and invasive vegetation. Click here to learn more.
