Fire Station Update: Construction Moving Forward Beaufort County and Fraser Construction have reported that the new fire station has received necessary approvals to move forward.
Residents will begin to see increased activity at the site as work gets underway. Please use caution when traveling near this area and remain mindful of construction vehicles and activity.
We're excited to see this important project move forward and will continue to keep residents informed as work progresses.
Alligator Awareness Reminder One of the unique features of living in the Lowcountry is sharing the environment with native wildlife, including alligators.
The key to staying safe is to give alligators space and never approach them. Always keep a safe distance from the water's edge, and closely supervise children and pets around lagoons, lakes and ponds. Pets can attract an alligator's attention because they may resemble natural prey.
If you see an alligator, enjoy it from a distance. The best rule of thumb is simple: Don't feed it. Don't approach it. Don't disturb it.
Watch the video below to learn more about alligators in the community.
Basil Court Powerlines Project Santee Cooper and Lee Electric, a sub-contractor for Santee Cooper, will be working on the powerlines near Basil Court. They will utilize the Bull Hill Gate to bring in equipment. The project is expected to last four weeks, weather permitting.
