Association email — July 16, 2026

July 16, 2026

This week, several members of the Troon corporate agronomy team were on-site working alongside Golf maintenance staff to advance the recovery efforts across all three courses. This continued collaboration between Troon leadership, the Sun City Hilton Head Board of Directors and independent USGA agronomy resources reflects our shared commitment to transparency and to getting these courses back to the conditions our members and residents expect. Below is an update on recent milestones and upcoming work across Okatie Creek, Hidden Cypress and Argent Lakes Golf Courses.

Okatie Creek Golf Course Fully Reopens July 27 We are pleased to announce that Okatie Creek Golf Course will fully reopen on Monday, July 27, marking an important milestone in the recovery of the golf course.

Since transitioning to temporary greens, turf health and playing conditions have continued to improve. Based on ongoing agronomic evaluations and course performance, Okatie Creek Golf Course is now ready to welcome golfers back to a full-course experience. While the course is reopening, we will continue to closely monitor conditions and follow best-management practices to protect the long-term health of the turf and maintain an enjoyable golfing experience.

Please note: Okatie Creek Golf Course will be closed on Sunday, July 26 in preparation of the re-opening.

USGA Agronomic Review Available On July 10, USGA Regional Agronomist Chris Neff conducted an on-site evaluation of Okatie Creek Golf Course. His report provides an independent assessment of current conditions, turf recovery progress, and recommendations that support the successful return to full play and the long-term sustainability of the course. Hidden Cypress Golf Course Closure beginning the afternoon of Monday, July 20, with all day closures from Tuesday, July 21 through Saturday, July 25 We are also pleased to report that the irrigation project at Hidden Cypress Golf Course is nearing completion. With the final phases of the project underway, we will soon have the additional water capacity needed to support improved turf management and course conditioning efforts.

Beginning Monday, July 20 through Saturday, July 25, the Golf maintenance team will focus on preparing select Hidden Cypress greens and the driving range tees for continued recovery to provide the most playable experience through the end of 2026. The Troon team started the patch work today, July 16, with all patching and sodding expected to be completed by Friday, July 31.

While many holes will be playable almost immediately, we are on track for full playability across all holes by Tuesday, September 1. This work will include resodding targeted areas and plugging other greens to promote healthy turf growth, improve surface consistency and enhance playing conditions until the Hidden Cypress renovation project begins in January 2027. These improvements are an important step in maintaining the course and providing the best possible golf experience prior to the upcoming renovation. We appreciate your patience as we complete this work and look forward to the benefits it will provide for golfers in the months ahead.

Argent Lakes Golf Course Closure Rescheduled The planned maintenance closure at Argent Lakes Golf Course has been moved from the week of July 20 to the week of July 27. This adjustment allows us to better align maintenance activities while ensuring golfers continue to have course availability with the reopening of Okatie Creek Golf Course.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support throughout this recovery process. We appreciate the cooperation of our golf community as we continue investing in the long-term health, playability and enjoyment of our golf courses.
